San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Obama appointed Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough to serve as the next White House Chief of Staff:
“With his choice of Denis McDonough as his next Chief of Staff, President Obama has chosen a dedicated public servant with a long record promoting our national security, advocating a responsible foreign policy, and defending our best interests across the globe.
“His roots lie in the House, as a former staffer and advisor on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and in a series of positions throughout Congress. We know he will bring the wisdom gained from his time on Capitol Hill and in the White House to his new post.
“Following in the footsteps of Jack Lew, Denis McDonough has earned the trust of the President, the confidence of his White House colleagues, and the respect of leaders in foreign affairs, throughout our nation’s capital, and around the world. We look forward to working with him to move our country forward and to advance a vision of peace, progress, and prosperity for the American people.”
