Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Caucus approved Congressman Peter DeFazio of Oregon to serve as the Ranking Member on the House Natural Resources Committee.
“For more than a quarter-century, Congressman DeFazio has served the people of Oregon and the Congress of the United States with passion and vigor, with a keen intellect and an independent streak,” Leader Pelosi said. “As our top Democrat on the Natural Resources Committee, Congressman DeFazio will bring that same commitment and leadership to the task of creating clean energy jobs, tapping renewable sources of energy, and preserving our natural resources.”
“As a progressive leader and a Member of the Natural Resources Committee, Congressman Raúl Grijalva will continue his outstanding work to promote conservation, defend public lands, and strengthen our beautiful national parks. His voice on a wide range of challenges – from energy and the environment to immigration reform, border security, and job creation – will prove critical and essential throughout the 113th Congress,” Leader Pelosi added.
