San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the announcement that Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood would be leaving his post upon the confirmation of his successor:
“Over the past four years, Secretary LaHood has set our nation on-track to a future and an economy built on the foundation of a safe, affordable, 21st century transportation system.
“His leadership has yielded tremendous results and his legacy can be seen across our country: creating jobs by rebuilding America, combating distracted driving, and investing in high-speed rail. His service has left a giant footprint on our nation’s roads, bridges, rail lines, and infrastructure.
“Throughout his tenure, Secretary LaHood remained a source of pride for his former colleagues in the House of Representatives. He earned the trust of the President and the confidence of local and state leaders nationwide. His energy, passion, and perseverance will be missed, and whoever follows in his footsteps will have enormous shoes to fill. We look forward to working with his successor to keep moving America forward.”
