On July 8, the House passed the Small Business Research and Innovation Act (HR 2965) by a vote of 386-41. The bill modernizes and reauthorizes the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs - the government's largest small business research and development programs.
On July 9th, the House passed the FY 2010 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 2997). The bill makes key investments in public health, food safety, rural communities, conservation and other priorities. The Appropriations bill is fiscally responsible -- targeting dollars to high-priority needs and eliminating five programs and cutting funding of an addition 35 programs.
On June 26th, the House passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES) to revitalize our economy by creating millions of new jobs, increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and preserve our planet by reducing the pollution that causes global warming.
On June 16th, the House passed the final conference report on Supplemental Appropriations to meet our troops' needs and implement the President's plans for Iraq and Afghanistan. The President signed the bill into law on June 24th. The bill also includes funding for 'Cash for Clunkers,' combating violence along the southwest border, pandemic flu response and other urgent needs.
On June 23rd, the House passed two key measures for our veterans - H.R. 1016 to ensure sufficient, timely and predictable veterans funding and H.R. 1211 to expand VA health care services for the 1.8 million women who have bravely served their country.
On June 18th, the House passed the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations for fiscal year 2010 (H.R. 2847) by a vote of 259-157. The bill makes key investments in law enforcement, innovation, global climate change research and other priorities. The bill provides $298 million for COPS Hiring Grants. This funding, along with the $1 billion provided for COPS Hiring Grants in the Recovery Act, will enable the hiring of approximately 7,000 additional police officers.
On June 11th, the House passed H.Res. 529, Condemning the violent attack on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on June 10, 2009 and honoring the bravery and dedication of United States Holocaust Memorial Museum employees and security personnel.
On June 11th, the House passed the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act, H.R. 1886.
On June 10th, the House passed the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, H.R. 2410. After eight years of neglect and underfunding under the Bush Administration, this bill once again reinvigorates diplomacy and development.
On June 9th, the House passed the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act (the 'Cash for Clunkers' bill, H.R. 2751), which was introduced by Rep. Betty Sutton (D-OH).
