“These transcripts prove that Republicans’ Select Committee to Exploit the Benghazi Tragedy is nothing more than a circus to inflame the most extreme and conspiracy-obsessed elements of their party while raising campaign funds off the deaths of four Americans."

“Even in the deepest darkness of hate, there shine stars of hope, compassion, and courage. Armed only with diplomatic papers and his own creativity and determination, Raoul Wallenberg helped thousands escape the Holocaust in the chaotic and brutal final month of World War Two."

“It is no surprise that even after reviewing hundreds of candidates, we found the perfect nominee within the ranks of UCSF itself. From his work as a researcher and teacher to his present positions as Dean of the Medical School and interim Chancellor, Dr. Sam Hawgood has embodied UCSF’s culture of excellence. He is a dedicated educator, a proven leader, and a terrific choice for chancellor of UCSF."

“Avoiding a strike on the Long Island Rail Road should be a priority for all levels of government. It is my hope that all parties involved will be able reach a fair resolution, and that we can avoid the disruption of a strike that would have a negative impact on commuters."

“The Supreme Court’s decision in Hobby Lobby was a gross assault on workers’ rights and women’s health that singled out women’s health for discrimination. For-profit corporations must not be allowed to pick and choose which laws to obey or which essential health care services to insure."

“The scope of the humanitarian need presented by the thousands of unaccompanied children crossing our southern border requires Congressional action. “I applaud the decision of the Ethics Committee to reconsider its guidance regarding disclosure of privately-funded travel and reinstate the requirement that Members and covered staff report such travel on their annual Financial Disclosure statements, as well as on the Clerk’s website. While I understand the rationale behind the original action, I believe that full transparency and greater disclosure in this area, the goal sought by the Democratic legislation passed in 2007, is better served by today’s decision.”

“House Republicans' relentless obstruction and dysfunction are holding back our growth and threatening hundreds of thousands of American jobs. Republicans refuse to raise the minimum wage that would give a long overdue pay raise to at least 25 million hardworking Americans. They refuse to renew the emergency unemployment insurance that millions of American families rely on to weather the crisis of long-term unemployment. Republicans are even considering a potential body blow to American manufacturers' ability to compete overseas and create jobs here at home."

“The Civil Rights Act stands as one of the great legislative achievements in our history: a pillar of fairness, justice and equality, and a monument to countless acts of courage that brought it into being."

“The new rule presented by the Ethics Committee for disclosure of travel must be reversed. While the committee’s aim was to simplify the disclosure process, Congress must always move in the direction of more disclosure, not less. If the Ethics Committee does not act, then we will call upon the Speaker to allow a vote on legislation to reverse this decision. In the meantime, Members are encouraged to disclose such trips to both the Clerk and in their annual disclosures.”
