Philadelphia Business Journal (Pennsylvania) - Pa. tabs $81M in stimulus funding for weatherization
Pennsylvania has pushed out $81 million of its $226 million in federal stimulus funding for weatherization work.
With the path the state is on, the program will not only wrap up early, but exceed its goal of weatherizing 29,700 homes statewide, E. Craig Heim, executive director of the state Office of Energy Conservation and Weatherization, said.
The state's weatherization program is sustaining a work force of 2,200 statewide, with more than 1,000 jobs resulting from the infusion of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. [8/20/10]
WMBD CBS-31 (Illinois) - IL Stimulus Money for Broadband, Jobs to be Created
Illinois will get more than 100-million dollars in federal stimulus money to improve broadband access across the state.
Governor Pat Quinn said he expects the funds will create about 600 new jobs spread across four projects.
The state kicked in about 38-million dollars in capital money to help secure the federal funds.
Quinn says the projects will bring high speed internet to more than a thousand schools, hospitals and other public facilities. [8/22/10]
North Bay Business Journal (California) - Health Care: Petaluma Health Center breaks ground on $15.5 million facility

The Petaluma Health Center last week broke ground on an expansion that will double its patient volume and significantly increase services offered at the federally qualified health center.
In early June, the center purchased a 53,000-square-foot vacant building on North McDowell Boulevard after receiving a $5.87 million loan from UnitedHealth Group and $8.9 million in federal stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The center was one of 85 federally qualified health centers in the country to receive ARRA funds…
The number of health providers at the center is expected to double from 30 medical and dental professionals, while staff is expected to grow by 90 people from the 100 employees already working in the existing center. [8/23/10]
The Fayetteville Observer (North Carolina) - Grants to enable job training in Lee County

A nonprofit group that provides on-the-job training for people with disabilities recently received a $200,000 boost from the federal government.
LCI Inc., located off Tramway Road, received two grants as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Roughly $99,000 went to hiring 18 people to place in the paid internship program…
Most of the internships, which started last week, are in retail sales, food preparation, certified nursing assistant jobs, and customer service areas.
