On Friday, the Council of Economic Advisers released a state-by-state report on the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on employment in the first quarter of 2010. Wilmington Star News (North Carolina) - White House: Stimulus bill sustains 84,000 jobs in North Carolina

The White House says President Obama's stimulus bill, passed last summer, was responsible for nearly 84,000 jobs during the first quarter of 2010.

According to a December spending report on the state's Web site tracking the recovery funds, the federal stimulus bill has pumped $109 million into New Hanover County, $83 million into Brunswick County, and $24 million into Pender County.

Those amounts include extra funding for schools, highways, unemployment benefits and water and sewer infrastructure. [4/16/10]

The Council of Economic Advisers released Friday a new analysis that finds that the Recovery Act was responsible for 66,000 jobs in Virginia through the first quarter of 2010.

More than $5.8 billion in Recovery Act funds are already being put to work in Virginia so far creating jobs and driving economic growth. In addition to helping fill state budget gaps and jump-starting job-creating construction projects, the funds are also being used to provide tax cuts and other financial assistance like unemployment benefits to help hard-hit lower and middle-income families get back on firm financial footing. Deseret News (Utah) - Federal stimulus brings 25,000 Utah jobs in first quarter

The White House's Council of Economic Advisers said on Friday that 25,000 Utah jobs were saved or created by the stimulus during the first three months of the year.

That meant the Recovery Act created or saved about 9.5 jobs per every 1,000 Utahns. That rate was the 22nd highest rate among the states -- and was just slightly higher than the national rate of 9.4 stimulus related jobs for every 1,000 residents.

The White House said Utah received about $2.4 billion of the $200 billion spent in the first quarter in stimulus funds nationally -- or about 1.2 percent of that spending. [4/16/10]

Providence Business News (Rhode Island) - Stimulus said to save 11,000 jobs in R.I.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been responsible for creating or saving 11,000 jobs in Rhode Island since its signing in February 2009, the Obama administration said Friday.

That would be 2.4 percent of the 452,500 non-farm payroll jobs in Rhode Island as of last month.

In its report, the White House Council of Economic Advisers said more than $1.5 billion in federal stimulus money would wind up coming to Rhode Island because of the law. [4/16/10]

South Carolina Now - Stimulus funds have saved more than 150 jobs in Pee Dee

To date, more than 150 jobs were saved or created in the Pee Dee by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, according data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the S.C. Stimulus Oversight Task force and recovery.org.

Counties of the Pee Dee have received about $135 million of stimulus money so far in grants and contracts awarded to businesses. [4/17/10]
