Pelosi Spokesman Statement on Speaker Boehner’s Speech Today
Washington, D.C. – Below is a statement from Nadeam Elshami, spokesman for House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, on Speaker John Boehner’s remarks in Middletown, Ohio today:
“How ironic. Today, Speaker Boehner will deliver a speech at a senior center to the Middletown Rotary Club to discuss the economy. Speaker Boehner and Republicans have lead the effort to end Medicare and have not brought one single jobs bill to the floor in the past 154 days. The House voted on jobs legislation nine times this Congress–all votes forced by Democrats – and Republicans have voted against every single one.
“Speaker Boehner should be honest with the residents of Middletown and participants at the senior center about how the GOP’s plan ends Medicare and increases costs for seniors.”

- Increases prescription drug costs for 8,100 current Medicare beneficiaries and eliminate new preventive care benefits for 99,000 beneficiaries.
- Denies 500,000 Americans ages 54 and younger access to Medicare’s guaranteed benefits.
