Transcript of Pelosi Weekly Press Conference Today
“The clock is ticking. The time is passing. Here it is – nearly June. The American people want us to be working to address their priorities, to create jobs, to grow the economy, to pass the minimum wage, to pass comprehensive immigration reform. And here we are: instead, Republicans are continuing to try to exploit the tragedy in Benghazi by pursuing another unnecessary investigation. As I said yesterday: eight reviews, 25,000 documents, millions of taxpayers’ dollars later, it is hard to see what the purpose is of dragging this on and what the timetable is of dragging this on.”
Pelosi Statement Supporting Full Social Security Benefits for All Same-Sex Couples
“Nearly one year ago, the Supreme Court reaffirmed its commitment to equal justice under the law by discarding the heart of the Defense of Marriage Act into the dustbin of history. With its decision, the highest court in the land kept faith with the highest ideals of our country: equality, fairness, and due process for all.”
Pelosi Remarks at Harvey Milk Forever Stamp Ceremony
“Today, Harvey’s green light still shines, still calling us forward, still calling us to the cause of compassion, justice, and opportunity for all. Thanks to Harvey, our society is better, forever; our laws forever fairer; and our democracy forever stronger. Together, we’ll finish the work Harvey started and deliver on the ideals of equality that are our heritage and are the hope of our nation forever. Thank you, all.”
Only One Person Standing in Way of Comprehensive Immigration Reform
“Mr. Speaker, nearly 330 days that have gone by since the Senate passed bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform; over 220 days have passed since House Democrats introduced bipartisan legislation, H.R. 15; and over 100 days have passed since you and your Conference introduced the abandoned ‘immigration standards.'”
Pelosi Honors Former Senator Elizabeth Dole for Work to Support Military Families and Caregivers
“Senator Elizabeth Dole has demonstrated extraordinary leadership on behalf of military families, informed by her own experience, bound by her own powerful connection to the men and women who don’t don the uniform, but bear the burden of war and its aftermath alongside those that do,” Leader Pelosi said. “As we approach Memorial Day, we must keep our commitment to our veterans by answering Elizabeth Dole’s call to serve military caregivers as well as they serve their loved ones.”
Transcript of Pelosi, Democratic Appointees to Select Committee on Benghazi Press Conference Today
“What happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, was a tragedy – for the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives; for America’s diplomatic corps; for all Americans. Unfortunately, the Republican obsession with Benghazi has not been about the victims or their families or our country. We had hoped that House Republican leaders would not go down the path of forming a Select Committee. We have already been there. [Seven] reviews have been conducted in the House and Senate, 25,000 documents released, millions of taxpayer dollars spent. It is not necessary to put the families and our country through this partisan exercise once again.”

Pelosi Remarks at Wake Up Congress for Climate Action Rally
“I’m going to focus on the word ‘time.’ First, let me say: I’m so honored to be here with all of you, to see your enthusiasm, to catch your spark, to renew our energy on this subject, to be here with these great leaders in the House and in the Senate who have made saving our planet a priority.”
Pelosi: U.S. Department of Education Letter Proves Accreditors Can Grant CCSF Good-Cause Extension
“City College is an indispensable part of San Francisco – one of our most important ladders of opportunity,” said Leader Pelosi. “The education CCSF provides has enabled thousands of San Franciscans young and old to invest in themselves and build a better future for themselves and their families.”
Pelosi Floor Speech Condemning the Abduction of Female Students in Nigeria
“I rise this evening, Mr. Speaker, in support of the resolution introduced by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson and to stand in solidarity with the young Nigerian girls who are still being held in captivity by Boko Haram. Their kidnapping is an act outside the circle of human behavior. It is a despicable and abhorrent crime that cries out for justice.”
