More than six months into the Trump Administration, and Republicans still have no real details for tax reform. Today’s threadbare joint statement shows Republicans continuing to flounder instead of inviting bipartisan progress on real tax reform for hard-working Americans.

I thank the gentlelady from New York [Congresswoman Nita Lowey], the distinguished Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee, for yielding and more importantly for her great leadership to advance the values of our country in the allocation of resources, and I always admire the work of Mr. [Rodney] Frelinghuysen, the distinguished chairman as well. We may have a matter of disagreement here today, though.

Tonight, a bipartisan group of governors sent a letter to Congress urging the Senate to swiftly reject the flawed and immoral House Trumpcare bill as well as the “skinny” Trumpcare bill being considered this week.

On this very day in 1948, President Harry Truman signed the executive order desegregating the U.S. military. Sixty-nine years later, President Trump has chosen this day to unleash a vile and hateful agenda that will blindside thousands of patriotic Americans already serving with honor and bravery.
