Pelosi Statement on CBO Review of President Trump’s Budget

The only thing worse than the Trump Administration’s math is their intentions. The Trump Budget’s catastrophic cuts would devastate our nation’s investments in jobs, wages and families just to hand more tax breaks to billionaires, and still leave a yawning deficit. Investments in better jobs, better skills, and better wages for America’s families are the only path to real deficit reduction.

Pelosi Statement on the Death of Liu Xiaobo

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following reports of the death of Nobel Peace Prize winner and Chinese democracy activist Liu Xiaobo. As Speaker, Pelosi attended the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway, as part of the official delegation on behalf of Liu Xiaobo and his wife Liu Xia.

Pelosi Statement on Republican Anti-Transgender Servicemember Amendment to Defense Authorization Bill

Republicans should be ashamed: instead of protecting the men and women who risk their lives to defend our freedoms, they are fighting to rip away the health care of thousands of brave servicemembers. This cowardly Republican amendment targeting transgender men and women in uniform effectively bans these patriotic Americans from serving their country. This disgusting amendment is unprecedented, unacceptable and undermines our national security.

Republicans are failing at governance

This morning, Speaker Ryan claimed, “We’re well on our way on appropriations.”

That’s funny, because it’s July, and Republicans have yet to pass a single appropriations bill. There’s also been no jobs bill, no infrastructure bill, no budget, and no plan to avert a catastrophic default on the full faith and credit of the United States. Instead, House GOP has unveiled a bill that includes $1.6 billion in taxpayer funds for President Trump’s immoral, ineffective and expensive border wall.
