As we continue the fight to Protect Our Care, thank you for your leadership and for being active during this work period. Republicans continue to struggle in their efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. As always, we extend the hand of friendship and are ready to work with Republicans to improve and update the ACA.

Since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2010, a number of studies have documented how it has succeeded in reducing the uninsured rate to an historic low, expanding coverage for millions of Americans, and also has made improvements in the nation’s health care system. What the ACA has also done is benefit the U.S. economy and the economic security of American families. This fact sheet provides an overview of some of the key economic benefits of the ACA.

North Korea’s ICBM launch is a deeply irresponsible and provocative act. A North Korean ICBM with the range suggested by this test is a grave development for the stability of the region and the security of the United States.

Vladimir Putin has made it his mission to undermine democracy in America and across Europe. Russia’s brazen intervention in the 2016 election, exposed by the U.S. intelligence community, has been matched by brazen interventions in European nations before and since. The integrity of our democracy and the security of the free world depend on the United States stopping Russia’s unchecked assault on our election systems.

The Trump Defense Department’s decision insults the brave, honorable service of the transgender Americans already serving openly in our armed forces.

While House Republicans continued to drop the ball in June, Democrats worked day and night to put forward policies, host briefings, and speak to constituents about their work to create jobs, raise wages, and improve the lives of hardworking Americans across the country. Below is a sampling of the legislation and activities that Members led in June:

”Nine years ago, a Democratic Congress enacted the most sweeping veterans benefit and education law in generations. We honored our debt to the heroes in uniform who keep us safe, and restored the promise of a full, four-year college education for over 1.75 million Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families.

“President Trump’s discriminatory, unjust and dangerous Muslim and refugee ban undermines our national security and insults our founding values. While the Supreme Court’s move on Monday to largely lift the injunctions against this openly prejudicial ban is deeply disappointing, Americans should be even more alarmed by the Trump Administration’s capricious and cruel interpretation of that decision.
