Washington, D.C. – Drew Hammill, spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, released the following statement on the Administration's announcement today concerning the SHOP marketplaces and new direct enrollment options for small business health coverage under the Affordable Care Act in the federally-facilitated marketplaces:
“Today’s announcement means that small businesses will still be able to apply through paper applications and that additional, alternative sign-up methods, like enrolling through an agent or broker or directly through an insurer will be available – the same way most small businesses secure coverage for their employees today.
“Predictably, House Republicans are taking this opportunity to continue to root for failure and call to repeal the law. Besides voting 46 times to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act, the House GOP has no plan for reform, other than putting insurance companies back in charge of Americans’ health care choices.
“Instead of working to sabotage health reform, Republicans should work with Democrats to strengthen the law and ensure tens of millions of Americans receive affordable access to health coverage.”
