Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Republican Leader John Boehner held a brief press availability this afternoon with British Prime Minister David Cameron prior to their meeting in the Capitol.

“Today, the House passed the SECTORS Act to create and save good-paying American jobs – and to restore the words ‘made in America’ – helping to lay the foundation for growth now and in the years to come.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Leaders, Committee Chairs, and Members of Congress delivered remarks this afternoon in the Capitol at an enrollment ceremony to sign the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and send it to President Obama for his signature.

“Today’s report sends a clear message: unemployment benefits not only protect those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own; we now have clear evidence that the benefits have led to more jobs, higher wages, and a stronger economy.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that she will appoint Daniel J. Strodel as Interim Chief Administrative Officer. Strodel, who currently serves as a senior advisor to the Committee on House Administration, has more than two decades of experience in management and legal issues on Capitol Hill.

“Today’s announcement marks another step forward in our effort to fulfill the fundamental goals of health insurance reform: providing access to affordable care for all Americans and ensuring the health and well-being of every family. With this change, prevention coverage will improve for as many as 41 million Americans next year and as many as 88 million Americans by 2013.”

“Today, the House took a critical step forward that will save U.S. taxpayers tens of billions of dollars by cracking down on waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending by identifying and eliminating improper payments, as well as recovering lost funds that federal agencies have spent improperly.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent the following letter today to Architect of the Capitol Stephen Ayers on a study by the Office of Compliance (OOC) that documents “substantial progress in the reduction of life-safety hazards in congressional buildings.”

“In passing the Recovery Act last year, Congress acted to help secure American jobs and begin to restore economic prosperity for working families and small businesses after a devastating meltdown under Republican rule. Today’s report confirms that the Recovery Act is on track and continues to create and save millions of jobs.”

“The National HIV/AIDS Strategy represents the nation’s first comprehensive plan to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS in this country. The strategy sets specific targets and provides detailed implementation information on the steps we must take to increase access to high quality HIV/AIDS care and treatment, decrease new HIV infections, and reduce HIV-related health disparities.”
