Former U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called on New Orleanians on Sunday to fight for changes aimed at bringing women’s pay into line with men’s and addressing a host of other issues that affect women and families.

“We knew that Speaker Boehner’s $500-per-hour taxpayer-funded lawsuit was unpopular with the American people,” said Drew Hammill, spokesman for Leader Pelosi. “Now, we know it’s just bad business.”

As Speaker Boehner, Leader McCarthy and House Republican Members print their boarding passes, they are leaving America’s middle class families in a lurch:

As we all know, sadly, this morning we observed the anniversary of 9/11. Yesterday, proudly, Congress presented the Congressional Gold Medal honoring families, honoring the first responders, honoring those on the airplane.

With just a few legislative days left before the next recess, Speaker Boehner and House Republican Leaders are forwarding a CR to keep the government open – the very least they could do for the American people. But GOP Senator Ted Cruz and the Tea Party Republicans in the House just can’t help themselves…
