Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Department of Defense allocated $36 million in additional funding to Hunters Point Naval Shipyard and $6 million in additional funding to Treasure Island as part of the $54 million national increase in base cleanup funding secured in the fiscal year 2018 omnibus funding bill:

“Since our declarations of freedom were presented, the United States and France have enshrined the values of freedom and respect for human rights into our democracies. In the course of our countries’ history, we have acted upon these values both at home and abroad. In his address to the Congress today, President Macron made an elegant declaration of those values.

Today, Leader Pelosi joined students for a town hall conversation moderated by Mo Elleithee at the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service to discuss Democrats’ bold economic agenda A Better Deal.  During the discussion she highlighted Democrats’ commitment to fighting for the economic security of hard-working Americans through affordable health care, a fairer tax code and adding millions of good-paying jobs.
