President Trump Doesn’t Know How Really Bad the GOP Tax Scam Is

Last night, the President suggested that people who don’t like the GOP tax scam ‘don’t understand it’ and are ignoring ‘how really good it is.’

Like much of what he says, this is just not true.

The majority of Americans do understand the GOP tax scam.  They oppose it.  They know the only thing the tax scam is ‘good’ at is raising taxes on tens of millions of middle class families in order to hand deficit-exploding giveaways to the wealthiest and corporations shipping jobs overseas.

Senate Republicans are working double-time to pass this terrible tax scam, maybe as early as tonight, because the more people learn about the bill, the worse it gets.

NYT Editorial: The Senate Is Rushing to Pass Its Tax Bill Because It Stinks

As more senators show signs of sacrificing their principles and embracing the Republican tax bill for minor and nebulous concessions, it bears looking more closely at the process that produced this terrible legislation and some of its lesser-known provisions.

The Senate tax bill, a 515-page mammoth, was introduced just last week, and the chamber could vote on it as soon as Thursday. This is not how lawmakers are supposed to pass enormous pieces of legislation … This time it’s not about true reform but about speed and bowling over the opposition in hopes of claiming a partisan victory.

This rush to the Senate floor has been orchestrated by Mr. McConnell, following the same playbook he used in the failed effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The longer people have to study the details, the less likely the bill is to pass.

Bloomberg: The Senate Tax Bill Has Something for Every Republican to Hate

As GOP leaders push toward a vote by week’s end, this much is clear: The bill has something for pretty much every Republican senator to hate.

“The individual stuff we’re doing — I’d just as soon throw it in the incinerator and burn it,” said Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee … “There are things in this bill I don’t like at all.”

Together, President Trump and Republicans in Congress are dead-set on raising taxes on the middle class.

Democrats refuse to stand by as Republicans pursue the poisonous GOP tax scam.  We will keep fighting for America’s hard-working families and hold Republicans accountable for their moral obscenity with staggering costs for the middle class.
