Pelosi Announces Appointment of Congresswoman Val Demings to House Judiciary Committee

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced that the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee has recommended to the Democratic Caucus that Congresswoman Val Demings of Florida be appointed to serve on the House Judiciary Committee.

“Congresswoman Val Demings is a fearless champion for justice and equality,” said Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.  “As a 27-year veteran of the police force who rose to become Orlando’s first female Chief of Police, Congresswoman Demings embodies integrity, courage and effectiveness.  On the House Judiciary Committee, she will be a strong voice to prevent gun violence, and will stand firm against radical Republican efforts to target immigrant families, rip away the sacred right to vote and dishonor our nation’s most sacred values.  Democrats look forward to Congresswoman Demings’ strong leadership to protect liberty and justice for all, not just the privileged few.”
