On Cinco de Mayo, we reflect upon the victory of a Mexican militia who persevered against unimaginable odds and successfully defended their rights, history, and homeland from the might of the Imperial French army. In commemorating the Battle of Puebla, we celebrate the proud history of our Mexican neighbors and the rich legacy Mexican-Americans and all Americans of Latino heritage bring to our shared American story.
