Pelosi Statement on April Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced that the economy added a total of 211,000 jobs in April:

“April’s jobs report shows the economy continues moving forward.  However, neither the economy nor America’s families can afford the devastating health cost increases of Trumpcare.

“Instead of creating good-paying jobs for the American people, President Trump and the Republican Congress are cruelly trying to raise health costs on seniors and hard-working families.  In addition to the anguish it will create in families, Trumpcare will force cuts that would shutter rural hospitals and destroy 2 million jobs across the country.

“More than 100 days into the Trump Administration, we still have not seen a single job-creating bill from the President. Democrats believe we should focus every day on job creation and growing paychecks – for everyone, everywhere in our country.  We should be creating good paying jobs, rebuilding America’s infrastructure and investing in the future of our communities.  Trumpcare is a prescription for sick and desperate families and a sick and desperate economy.”
