Pelosi Announces Appointment of Congressman Jimmy Panetta to House Armed Services Committee

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has recommended to the Democratic Caucus that Congressman Jimmy Panetta of California be appointed to the House Armed Services Committee. The full Democratic Caucus is expected to consider the nomination tomorrow.

“Defending our nation requires us to be strong and smart, and Democrats stand firmly behind ensuring our heroes in uniform and our military families have access to all the resources they need,” said Leader Pelosi. “As a Naval reserve officer who volunteered for active duty and deployed to Afghanistan, Jimmy Panetta earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. On the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Panetta will be a tireless champion for strengthening our national security and supporting the brave men and women who defend us. We look forward to having Congressman Panetta’s experience, ideas and strong leadership on this vital committee.”
