Another Republican Against the Republicans’ Refusal to #RaisetheWage

This morning on MSNBC, former Republican Senator and ultra-conservative GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum had this to say about the GOP’s refusal to #RaisetheWage:

“…let’s not make the argument that: ‘We are for the blue collar guy, but against any minimum wage increase. Ever.’ It just makes no sense.” [5/5]

It’s a rare moment when we can say we agree with Rick Santorum.

His comments come on the heels of another top Republican – former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty – saying the GOP should support raising the minimum wage:

“If you’re going to talk the talk about being for the middle class and the working person, if we have the minimum wage, it should be reasonably adjusted from time to time.”

Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 would:

Increase wages for at least 25 million working men and women;

Lift up to 4.5 million Americans out of poverty;

Put more money in the pockets of consumers, and generate $22 billion in new economic activity

It’s time to give Americans a raise.
