Tomorrow, House Republicans are bringing a cruel Farm Bill to the floor that abandons America’s farmers and ranchers who are struggling with plummeting prices and the damage of the Trump Tariffs and economic uncertainty.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined House Democrats at a forum to commemorate the anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education and to examine current enforcement of the Civil Rights Act in U.S. schools. Below are the Leader’s remarks:

Leader Pelosi.  Thank you, Mr. Leader [Schumer].  Congratulations to the United States Senate for taking such a bold step for democracy today.  This is a great day.  Congratulations Mr. Markey for your ongoing leadership over the years on this important issue.  I am honored to be with, with Senator Schatz, Senator Cantwell, who was a champion in the House and in the Senate for fair and open communications in our country. 

“Just as the military pledges to leave no soldier behind on the battlefield, we must leave no veteran behind once they come home.  I commend the Committee leaders for working towards a bipartisan, bicameral agreement, but the VA MISSION Act is a missed opportunity.

Leader Pelosi.  Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I thank the gentleman for yielding. I especially thank him for his exceptional leadership over the years to honor the historic collaboration that has always existed in our country between urban and rural America that is in all of our interests that our farm country succeeds, and it’s in all of our interests that the American people are not food insecure.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan urging an immediate classified briefing for Members on critical information regarding the steps being taken to protect against interference in our elections.

“The Holy month of Ramadan is a sacred time of devotion and contemplation for Muslims in America and around the world.  This month, families will join together to honor their proud traditions and celebrate their spiritual renewal with loved ones.

President Trump likes to downplay Russia’s attack on our democracy and continues to undermine the legitimacy of the Special Counsel’s investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal – calling it a “witch hunt” and “based on an illegal act.”  The President is making things up again.  Unlike the GOP’s three-year Benghazi investigation, which found no wrongdoing whatsoever, the Special Counsel’s investigation has resulted in 22 indictments and five guilty pleas.
