In selling the GOP tax scam, President Trump and Speaker Ryan specifically promised working American a pay raise of around $4,000.

This week, the House will consider a radical Republican balanced budget amendment to the Constitution that brazenly attacks Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. 

“Equal Pay Day reminds us all of the work that remains to realize our nation’s fundamental principle of fairness, and secure equal pay for equal work.  American women who work full-time still earn on average only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men.  For minority women, the wage gap is even more staggering, with African American women earning only 63 cents and Latinas earning only 54 cents for every dollar earned by white men. 

“President Trump’s disparagement of Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation as ‘an attack on our country’ is a grave reminder of his utter contempt for the rule of law.  

Welcome back from the spring recess.  I hope your Easter and Passover holidays were spiritually fulfilling and satisfying in every way.  With Congress returning this week, it is important to reflect on what we have accomplished so far this year and what challenges lie ahead.  As always, I am grateful for your leadership and engagement on the issues that matter so much to the American people.

“If confirmed, another chemical weapons attack by Bashar al-Assad’s regime against its own people would be a war crime of staggering inhumanity.  The murder of innocent children violates every standard of morality and our common humanity.

In this week’s address, Lewis commemorates the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by reminding Americans to commit themselves to standing up in the face of injustice. In the latest installment in the Trump Administration’s culture of corruption, cronyism and incompetence, EPA chief Scott Pruitt is at the center of the chaos with his misuse of taxpayer dollars on first-class plane trips, luxurious lobbyist-owned condo rental for just $50 a night, abuse of the Safe Drinking Water Act to give shocking raises to his top aides, and other outrageous, dare we say – unhinged, demands including a 20-person protective security detail, bulletproof SUV, bulletproof desks, a $100,000 per month contract with a private jet company, biometric locks and a $40,000+ soundproof booth for confidential conversations.
