Pelosi Statement on First Meeting of Conference Committee to Complete Comprehensive Wall Street Reform Legislation

“Members of the House and Senate began work today to produce a Wall Street reform bill that protects consumers, holds Big Banks accountable, ends taxpayer-funded bailouts, and imposes tough oversight of Wall Street to ensure it never again costs us 8 million jobs on Main Street. The result will send a clear message to the financial industry: the party is over; consumers come first; and our middle class will no longer be left with the bill for Wall Street gambles.”
