Pelosi Statement on Libya Resolutions
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on resolutions by Speaker John Boehner and Congressman Dennis Kucinich concerning Libya, which are expected to be considered by the House tomorrow. Last week, Leader Pelosi voted for the Conyers amendment, which passed by a vote of 416 to 5, on the FY ’12 National Defense Authorization Act.
‘Last week, the House voted overwhelmingly on a bipartisan basis to prevent U.S. boots on the ground in Libya. As I have said before, the NATO-led efforts in Libya will be strengthened by continued consultation with the Congress.
‘The resolutions by Speaker Boehner and Congressman Kucinich, as currently drafted, do not advance our efforts in the region and send the wrong message to our NATO partners.’
