Pelosi Statement on the Passing of Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Pietro Sambi

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the passing of Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, the Most Reverend Archbishop Pietro Sambi, who served as the papal ambassador to the U.S. since 2005:

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Archbishop Pietro Sambi – a hard-working diplomat, a compassionate leader, and a strong representative for the Catholic Church in our country and around the world.

“Archbishop Sambi dedicated his life to his faith, to lifting up diverse communities across the globe, and to the service of others.  I hope it is a comfort to all who knew him that so many mourn his loss at this time.”
