Pelosi Statement on President’s Radio Address on Colombia Free Trade Agreement
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today in response to President Bush’s radio address this morning:
‘The President had an opportunity this morning to tell American families struggling with rising cost of groceries, gasoline, health care and American workers who have lost their jobs that he will work with Democrats in Congress to bring relief to millions who are struggling to make ends meet.
‘Instead, the President once again chose confrontation instead of cooperation and put his priority — the Colombia Free Trade Agreement — ahead of the concerns of America’s working families.
‘Democrats stand ready to work in good faith with the President to bring the Colombia Free Trade Agreement to a vote in the House, but the timing has to be that of America’s working families, not the timing of the President.’
