Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, and top Democratic Ranking Members unveiled letters to the Department of Justice and Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services demanding the Trump Administration produce documents on the legal justification and analysis of the health coverage and cost consequences of the administration’s decision to ask a court to strike down protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

The Trump Administration’s cynical assault of Americans’ health care has reached a stunning new low.

The Department of Justice will now argue in court that the Affordable Care Act’s provisions preventing insurance companies from denying coverage or charging more for pre-existing conditions should be struck down – destroying key, life-saving protections for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions.

Washington, DC – Today, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) sent a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting that the Department of Justice confirm that they have not given the President’s outside counsel, White House staff or the President access to the same classified information briefed to Congress.
