As some of you may recall, 10 years ago, we had the Innovation Agenda, which we passed into law and created the Competitiveness Act, which contained ARPA-E and so many other initiatives for innovation.

This week has not gone as expected for Speaker Ryan and House Republicans. It’s been awful for them.

House Republicans’ latest attack on Dodd-Frank Reform is a gift to some of the most powerful Wall Street special interests who shattered our economy and pushed hard-working Americans into the worst recession since the Great Depression.

And this week was epically messy for Speaker Ryan and House Republicans who left town without addressing the three terrifying public health crises and drowned their own appropriations bill in order to show their thirst for discriminating against the LGBT community.

Republicans, again, have had time for almost five weeks of recess in this spring period, no time to act on the crisis with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.

History will not look kindly on the votes Republicans proudly took to target Americans because of whom they are or whom they love.

Sadly, we all awakened this morning to the very sad news of the EgyptAir plane going down. Of course, our prayers and thoughts are with the families, mostly Egyptians, French, and then some other countries, some children. They said even infants. So tragic, so sad.
